And yeah, GW2 needs to be different from GW1. Maybe not incredibly different, but there are definately some things I would like to see changed.
He is probably refering mostly to MMOs that have a monthly fee, as GW does'nt require a subscription and therefore is a product rather than a service.

Furthermore, it is a given that GW2 needs to be different. Otherwise why would players make the switch to the new game?

actually the "reasoning" behind the post i wanted to bitch about is so bad - that it really isn't worth my time.

Seriously though, GW as it is, is pretty much an FPS, but with customization of characters, a decent story, and lots of loot. The creators simply want to take the more RPG side of GW, and improve upon that. I see nothing wrong with that, nor is it like WoW other than the fact that WoW is also an RPG. Whoop-de-friggin-do.
Amen!

In all honesty, I don't even see GW2 anywhere near close to "flying off the shelves" and this "Young MMO" market is beyond hilarious, Bnet won it hands down essentially the amount of people playing that game is the population of Canada.

You all think GW2 is going to be "huge"? Have you ever heard of Starcraft? Bnet is one step ahead of the game in my honest opinion. I have stopped supporting ANet and it looks slim for me to change my mind unless some miracles happen in this game for terms of balance regarding pvp.

I don't know how RTS games and MMO games are similar enough to even compare but...

Technically, the MMO market IS still young. ITs only just now going into its 3rd generation. The RTS market like Starcraft resides in has matured much faster.

But it seems that you are a psychic. So you should know already.

I know when GW2 drops I am jumping to WoW unless ANET can prove they can make a game, balance it, and not punish players because they are unable to get the bots out of their game. GW2 sounds like a WoW anyway, so why not play the real game?

It is disappointing to hear some think GW2 is going to be just like WOW. As stated in many interviews they are not going to do what other MMO's have done.

Yes we will have grind in the game but what MMO doesn't ? We will have the sidekick system so you can catch up on levels so it will not be as bad as many think. The game isn't even out yet, we have no clue as to how it is going to look graphically. Can some just wait until we get a glimpse of GW2 before you pass judgement ?

Where in all the gumf we've heard about it so far, does it sound like WoW

oh and on the established side of things, you want established? play a real MMO, like Lineage, not a cheap knock off like WoW

besides, if your happy to go pay money each month for crappy download servers and a sub par MMo, when there are better out there for less than blizzard charges (EvE online for instance, does a lot of different things and its space combat/trade/farming gloriousness for half the monthly that blizzard charges)

My entire guild, even the non-GW'ers are all getting really interested in GW2, not only for the free2play model (as we have loads of them already too, Archlord, Dofus, Last Chaos... to name just a few), but also from the ideas that ANet are putting forward and the frank and earnest reasons for the change to GW2, because the current game engine can't accomodate all the things they want to do, so they are upgrading it and starting from scratch with a better knowledge of how to do what they want...

GO, GO ANET!!!
